Miami Heat Future

With Miami's loss to Oklahoma City on wendesday, they showed a level of effort that made me wonder if they want to play basketball anymore. "There's no running away from it," Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said. " Other than the first eight minutes of the game they outclassed us tonight. They absolutely deserved this win." The Miami were simply outclassed on Wednesday, and with their play it showed everyone in the league that they are not motivated at all. After winning two back to back championships, winning regular season games mean nothing to them. "We have some work to do," Spoelstra said. "We're like everybody else in the league. Nobody is infallible. We have some things to improve on. We know the things we have to improve on. We're not there yet." Coach Spoelstra understands the Heat have a lot of holes they didnt use to and must improve them. What is most dissapointing with the loss though, is the first couple minutes of the game seemed to preview a Miami blowout. Ibaka opened the scoring with a jumper, and the Heat answered with an immediate 18-0 run, not even needing 5 minutes to get what appeared to be complete control. With 6:20 left in the opening quarter, Bosh made a pair of free throws to make it 22-4. After that though, Oklahoma City went on a big run and led by many as 25 to make a statement win. And for Miami, they could have lost by 40 and not have worried, they just want the playoffs to come.

Movie Review

Whats Eating Gilbert Grape is an excellent movie staring Johnny Depp, Leanordo DiCaprio,
,   and . The movie is about Gilbert trying to find his identity in life while he deals with a mentally Arnie as he tries his best to be the best mentor he can be. This movie focuses on the challenges a family faces in a small town everyday, and one which is struggling with a mentally ill child. Also though, this movie focuses on what true love is as a family. Through their tough times it shows how they came together and showed how a family should be. In the movie there was scene where Gilbert had enough of helping Arnie and the fact he was mentally ill just got the best of him, so he punched him several times and hurt Arnie. As soon as he left he house he realized to never hurt Arnie and how much Arnie meant to him. To me, this was a very powerful scene and made me realize many things about family and love. Gilbert came back into Arnie's life and made sure to never hit him and showed him the love he wanted to show. I personally thought this was a great movie because it teaches how strong a family can be, and even though things can be very tough at times, as long as you stick together as a tight family that is all that matters.

New Week, New Challenge Miami Heat

Indiana Pacers vs Miami Heat PREVIEW EASTERN CONFERENCE FINALS!!!!!

The Miami Heat will probably  downplay the importance  of Wednesday's game against the Indiana Pacers because after all, it is the regular season of a goal of a golden three peat. The Pacers meanwhile ,are hyped up as always to play the Miami heat. The Pacers want home court advantage badly against Miami.

"Everybody goes about it their own way," Wade said. "We're not the kind of team or kind of guys who talk about stuff. We just go do it. But they like to talk. If it works for them, it works for them. I really don't lose any sleep over talk. We just go out and play the game.

"They're a good team. There's no secret about it. They're one of our biggest challengers. … Hopefully it comes down to us and them to get to the Finals and the best team wins."

The Heat need to have a win against Indiana so they wont have a full confident team playing them in May. I feel like if they beat them, it would make life harder for the Pacers in the playoffs.

Speaking of confidence,  Roy Hibbert is one of the best in the league at protecting the rim. Opponents shoot 41.7% at the rim with Hibbert defending, and he blocks three shots a game. He is easily one of the best big men in the league and has made himself into an all star.

Miami needs its three-point shooters, and get their core going like Ray Allen, Mario Chalmers and Norris Cole. Once the three point shot is going good, it opens the floor for stars like Lebron and
Wade to create for themselves and make plays.

"They're a very good defensive team so you have to expend a lot of energy to be able to get to the game we want," Spoelstra said. "

If the Miami Heat want to win on Wednesday night, you sure bet they'll have to expend lots of energy.

Miami Heat Struggling

With last nights loss to the NBA-best Indiana Pacers, Miami Heat falls to 16-6, good for second place in the laughable Eastern Conference. What is a concern for Miami though, is their lack of size to get rebounds and guard dominant big men like Roy Hibbert who had a night with 24 points. Miami, coming into game a bit shaky after their winning streak was snapped, was out-rebounded and out-played by the Pacers who have not lost at home this season. The Pacers are no joke though, and have tremendous upside to take down the heat this year. If Indiana can get healthy and keep getting the ball inside, the will have punched their ticket to the Eastern Conference Finals in May when they are believed to face the Miami Heat. If they want to beat the Heat and head to the finals for the first time in about 10 years, they will have to keep out-rebounding Miami and play big. I think Indiana has the better talent and is deeper, and Paul George is now a superstar behind LeBron James, which wasn't n the case when the teams met in the playoffs a while ago.

In the end, everybody knows these two teams will meet in the playoffs.. The team that out-plays the other wins and it is as simple as that.

Staying focused on winning

The Miami Heat always have found a way of winning games when they are trailing, and when they beat the Toronto Raptors this week after being down double digits, they found themseleves having to make a comeback again. The next game, thanks to Chris Bosh scoring 13 consecutive fourth-quarter points to come back and beat the Bobcats by one. Then Tuesday, when the Detriot Pistons came to town, it finally hurt them.. Miami cut an 18-point  lead to three with another fourth-quarter run, but got no closer, and that was it for the streak. It had to happen at some point and was likely to happen as the result of losing focus, taking shortcuts on defense and being bored in the regular season.
"If you don't maintain that edge mentally, teams will make you pay," Heat forward Shane Battier said last week. "Every team has those lapses. Veteran teams, contending teams try to keep those games to a minimum." - This shows how the Heat understand they will need their A game every night in the NBA
Looking at Miami's next games,, the one that stands out is tuesdays. That's when the Heat go on the road and visit the Indiana Pacers,a team with the best record in the eastern conference. The Pacers took Miami to seven games last year in the playoffs and, if it happens again, they want home court. These are the only two teams in the East with winning records. Besides if anything crazy happens to these two teams, it seems they will be playing again in the playoffs and the Heat need to send a message.
The Miami Heat have gone on a amazing 10 game win streak for the past week and All Star power forward Lebron James has been playing incredible basketball. Averaging 27 points per game, 8 rebounds , and 8 assists while shooting 50 % from the field and 48% from the 3pt range is UNHEARED of numbers but the king continues to get better. Each year and up to this year of the 2013-2014 season, Lebron James has gotten better year after year.

What is more impressive though, is that the Miami Heat continue to win ball games. Although the Eastern Conference is very bad this year with only the Indiana Pacers looking good, the Heat are not struggling with anything. After winning two consecutive championships you would think a team would get a bit careless and bored but Lebron James continues to make his teammates more motivated and himself motivated for the three peat. Over the thanksgiving holiday, James hosted the big feast at his big house in Akron, Ohio and served up some good food and continued to show his unselfish ways as the Heat look to extend their win streak.

My name is Tewahedo Haimanot and I am blogging about the defending champions the Miami Heat. I am a junior at Boston Latin Academy. I love to play different sports like pick-up basketball and pick up football. I
I am 17 years old and I like to write about good topics. I want to pursue a career in journalism in sports so doing this blog is not a bad start. I want to blog about the defending NBA champions Miami Heat because they are one of the most controversial teams in the history of sports. They have a wide variety of topics to talk about such as Lebron James, Dwayne Wade, and their supporting cast.

Another reason why I am doing this is because I love sports in general. I follow most sports, obviously the NBA, but sports like football and college basketball are all things I follow. I enjoy watching competitive players and teams all try to reach a common goal while they all have to face their own adversity and obstacles. Watching a team win, or even playing for a championship is a great things to see, and that is why I am writing a blog about the Miami Heat. I hope you guys enjoy.
